Enjoy a fishing trip or a trip to a muttonbird island. Spend a day in our island museum learning about island life from the resettling of the Tasmanian Aboriginals (many descendents are still living here today), to the establishment of Soldier Settlement farms after the war, to modern day life.

It's an island for amazing fishing.....The waters around Flinders Island are home to many different fish. From the beaches, rocks or a boat you can catch large Flathead, Gummies and Salmon. Spring and summer you can also catch Snapper and Yellowtail Kingfish. | |

Game fisherman can find Yellowfin Tuna or Albacore. Deep down Striped Trumpeter and Blue-eye make for a challenge.During the summer months of February and March Striped Marlin pay a visit to the warm waters of the continental shelf. Wild, natural and friendly, Flinders Island in the Bass Strait between Victoria and Tasmania is a very special place. Pristine beaches, craggy mountains, abundant wildlife, superb local food and wine and friendly locals.
The Furneaux Tavern is a favourite meeting place for locals and visitors. It offers the only 7 day/week full catering service on Flinders Island. We cater for our guests as well as casual diners. Just relax as you unwind with a coffee and look out over one of the best views of the island.

The Tavern is situated at Lady Barron close to the General Store which is the only facility on the island where fuel may be purchased 7 days per week. We are also close to tennis courts, wharf and BBQ facilities at Yellow Beach. You may also opt to use our BBQ on site if you feel like self catering. Let us do you up a BBQ pack with local produce.

The Furneaux Tavern is also situated close to the Unavale Vineyard where guests are welcome to wander through the vineyard as well as sample the prize winning wines. Unavale Vineyard is the only commercial vineyard on Flinders Island.
